Join us for Vacation Bible School

July 26-30

Vacation Bible School at First Christian Church of Melbourne will be an exciting one.  I recently met with our Vacation Bible School Director, Anne Kendall to look at our plans to transform our church and grounds into an ancient Egyptian adventure where children will experience the life of Joseph from the Old Testament and learn how he grew in faith during his low times as a slave to the heights of being second in command of all Egypt.

Here are a few of the exciting highlights of this year's exciting Vacation Bible School:
Pyramid Play Zone.  A large area will be set up for games and activities that everyone will enjoy.  Many of the games will help the kids connect to the stories they learned at VBS.
Joseph.  Each day the kids will spend 15-20 minutes with Joseph and hear him tell about his adventures in Egypt and his walk with God.
Market Place.  There will be plenty of opportunities for the kids to explore ancient Egyptian life while interacting with our Egyptian shopkeepers.  Each child will receive coins every day to use for shopping while in the marketplace.
As you can see, our upcoming Vacation Bible School is going to be fantastic.  Registration has begun  If you would like to begin the registration process, please contact Anne Kendall at rken401124@aol.com and give her the following information: Your name, address, phone, and  names, and ages of your children. She will contact you to complete the registration.  The dates for VBS are July 26 through 30 from 9:00 am to noon. We hope you can all attend! It certainly will be a fun experience!  You can also contact me, Brenda Reynolds, at the church at worship@fccmelbourne.org 723.6831.  I am co-chairing with Anne.

Come, join us in worship!

You are invited to join us in Christ's ministry.

Our new sanctuary has two screens in the front, one on either side of the baptistery.  Song lyrics appear on the screens during the singing of praise hymns, pictures illustrate the sermon, announcements inform the congregants of coming events, and much more. The sound system and lighting, installed by IM Solutions of Melbourne, create a wonderful atmosphere in which to worship God. Come and worship with us, sing glorious songs of praise, pray to our Holy Father, and let the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ enter your soul. All are welcome. God calls all His children to enter His gates with thanksgiving in their hearts. There is a seat reserved for you.

We have a very active, vibrant junior church program called FCCM KIDZ! The children gather in the sanctuary with everyone else to begin the Sunday worship, and then, after the call to worship, opening hymn, and invocation, they are excused to go to their "sanctuary" in the fellowship hall building for their special time. Children of all ages, four-year-olds through fifth graders, are invited to participate. It is a truly uplifting and exciting experience for all!

The children sing songs, say prayers, learn bible verses, experience bible stories, and make interesting crafts. FCCM KIDZ prepares our children for worship!

Reverend Page Foster, our Senior Minister and his wife Pat welcome all Children of God to worship with us!

Worship Schedule

We worship at 10:00 A.M. Join us in this blended service.

Who are we?

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a body of approximately 800,000 Christian believers in some 3,700 congregations in the United States and Canada.

Our mission comes straight out of the New Testament part of the Bible. It's our mission to be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, loving, witnessing and serving from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.

We believe that God is calling us to be a faithful, growing church that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice.

In 1832, two American frontier religious movements came together. One, led by Barton Stone, called itself simply, "Christians." Thomas and Alexander Campbell's group was called "Disciples of Christ." One important belief back then and now is that people shouldn't be forced to put faith in creeds but only in Jesus Christ. Another strong belief is that God wants churches to be in unity instead of in pieces.

Our Mission

"I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples; baptize them in the name of the Father , the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."
-Jesus ---Matthew 28:18 ff

We minister to the community through local services such as Habitat for Humanity, Sharing Center, Daily Bread, Souper Bowl, a partnership with Haiti and others. As the Christian Church, we have missions, schools, colleges, hospitals and care centers around the world.

Our Belief...

As believers in Jesus Christ

we continue to grow by learning

and living the truth of God's word.

Being embraced by the Holy Spirit,

we go forth in Freedom, Unity and Love,

bringing people to faith in Jesus Christ,

baptizing them and showing people

of all ages the Glory of God.

What do Disciples Believe?

We are a diverse group of people who accept and follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Because each of us may be at different mileposts in our journey of Christian faith, we respect each other's beliefs and experiences. We are expected to grow in our faith through regular worship, study, prayer, and service.
Teaching God's love and values to our children is fundamental.
Practical, Bible-based teaching and preaching are related to our lives. God as revealed in the Bible is our authority.
The Good News of Jesus Christ calls us into the community of the church. Weekly we worship and celebrate the Lord's Supper, and we baptize by immersion. With liberating faith, we strive to provide friendship, acceptance, and spiritual guidance through fellowships and Bible education.
